AHL Hershey Bears

Bears in Wilkes-Barre Saturday to face Penguins

January 6, 2007 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Hershey Bears News Release

The third game of a five-game road trip places HERSHEY in northeast PA Saturday night, as the BEARS meet the Penguins for the fourth meeting of ten this season. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton leads the season series 2-1-0-0.

The BEARS dropped a 3-1 decision Friday in Norfolk against the Admirals. It marked the first time in 38 games this season that HERSHEY lost back-to-back games in regulation. The Penguins, however, could not gain any ground on the front-running BEARS, losing in regulation at home to Grand Rapids Friday 6-5. HERSHEY'S only win against the Penguins in 2006-07 came back on October 7 at Wachovia Arena, when the BEARS scored four times in the third period to defeat the Pens 7-4.

Despite back-to-back regulation losses in Norfolk this week, the BEARS remain the AHL's top team with 57 points. Norfolk begins the night two points back, and both teams have 38 games played.

Tonight's game can be heard via the BEARS Radio Network beginning at 6:45 p.m. The game can also be heard via Pennlive.com, WHYLRadio.com and B2 Networks through HersheyBears.com. John Walton has the call of the game from Wachovia Arena. HERSHEY will next play at GIANT Center Sunday, January 14 when the Albany River Rats come to town for a 5:00 p.m. face-off. Tickets are available at the GIANT Center box office, or by calling (717) 508-BEAR.
