Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

The Isotopes (62-48) left no doubt in the series finale topping the Zephyrs (53-57) 8-0 with the aid of two three-run homers. Scott Van Slyke collected two hits, including a three-run dinger, with a walk and two runs scored. It was the first baseman's second three-RBI game on the season.

Dee Gordon led off the game with his eighth triple of 2013 as the Isotopes threatened to score immediately in the first inning. He came across home plate to tally the game's first run on an Alex Castellanos RBI groundout. Gordon ranks second on the Isotopes in triple baggers and extended his hitting streak to his season-high 12 games.

The Isotopes doubled their lead in the fourth. Ian Stewart hit his 12th double of the season with two outs. Catcher Damaso Espino singled to right, driving Stewart in.

Scott Van Slyke broke things open with a three-run homer in the fifth. It was his first homer since rejoining the Isotopes on July 23.

Rusty Ryal put the game away with a three-run shot to right field in the seventh for his third home run of the year, improving the Albuquerque lead to 8-0. Chili Buss singled in the inning as he kept pace with Gordon by extending his hitting streak to a personal season-high 12 games.

Jonathan Sanchez (4-1, 5.05) earned his fourth win of the season going five-plus scoreless innings. He allowed three hits and struck out six. The lefty exited the contest with his lowest ERA of the season.

Sean White entered in the sixth inning with two on and nobody. He retired the three batters he faced in order to leave his inherited runners stranded. White has now allowed just three runs in his last 18 appearances. Southpaw Kelvin De La Cruz followed with a perfect seventh.

Steve Smith took over in the eighth and worked into a bases loaded with nobody out situation. He enticed Nick Green to ground into a double play and recorded another groundout immediately after to retire the side with no runs scored. The former Lobo finished the game for Albuquerque tossed a scoreless ninth.

The Isotopes hit the road for eight games against the Sacramento River Cats and Fresno Grizzlies playing each team for the first and only time of the 2013 regular season. Matt Magill (3-0, 2.76) will open the road trip against Sacramento's Bruce Billings (10-4, 4.37). Albuquerque returns home to take on the Tacoma Rainiers on August 9th to begin their second to last homestand of the regular season. Listen to all the action on 610 "The Sports Animal" with Josh Suchon on the call.
