Oklahoma City Comets News Release

Today's Game: The RedHawks close out their season series with Iowa at 7:05 p.m. at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The RedHawks lead the current series, 3-0, while the I-Cubs have an 8-7 edge in the season series. Oklahoma City is also looking for a fourth-straight win and fourth series sweep of the season.

Last Game: George Springer's two-run home run in the sixth inning broke a 2-2 tie and provided the eventual winning runs in a 4-3 RedHawks win against Iowa Sunday. The RedHawks would take one-run leads in the second and fifth innings, but each time the I-Cubs tied it in their next at bat. With OKC ahead 4-2 in the ninth, Iowa's Ty Wright singled to score Jae-Hoon Ha and bring the I-Cubs within one run with one out. RedHawks pitcher Josh Zeid retired the final two batters on his next two pitches to end the game as he picked up his 13th save of the season. Oklahoma City starting pitcher Asher Wojciechowski (6-4) threw six innings, allowing two runs and six hits, walking none and striking out two in the win.

Today's Probable Pitcher: Brad Peacock will try and pull into a tie for the team lead in wins when he makes his start tonight...In his last start Wednesday at Omaha, Peacock had his impressive run of seven consecutive quality starts come to an end when he allowed four runs over six innings. The eight hits he allowed were the most he's given up in a RedHawks game this season. He would not figure in the decision after a late surge sent OKC to a 11-4 win...The RedHawks have won each of his last eight starts, and he is 5-0 with a 1.80 ERA during that time. The team is 10-2 overall in his starts, and both losses have been by one run...Over his last five starts he has 36 strikeouts to just four walks. He has one or no walks in seven of his last eight starts and he struck out nine or more batters three times this year...In two starts against Iowa this season, Peacock is 0-1 and has allowed six runs over 11.2 IP, although Iowa is only batting .146. When he last faced the I-Cubs June 13 in Bricktown, he retired the first 15 hitters and finished allowing one run and two hits over six innings. He got a no decision after OKC could not secure a 6-0 lead.

Against the I-Cubs: 2013: 7-8 2012: 12-4 All-time: 105-115 In OKC: 58-51

The RedHawks have won each of the last four meetings as well as five of the last six...The RedHawks and I-Cubs split their most recent series in Oklahoma City, June 10-13. Prior to this season, the RedHawks had won 14 of their last 16 meetings against Iowa in Bricktown...Iowa has won eight of the first 15 games between the teams this season after winning just four games total against Oklahoma City in 2012...Eight games between the teams this season have been decided by one run, with each team winning four...OKC went a combined 22-10 against Iowa in 2011 and 2012...After not winning any of its previous six series against the RedHawks, the I-Cubs won the first two series between the teams this year.

Sizing Up a Sweep: The RedHawks will try and sweep their first series since taking both games of a rain-shortened two-game set against Omaha, May 28-31. They have not even had a chance to sweep a standard four-game series since pulling it off against Tacoma, May 7-10. A win tonight would also match the team's best record of the season at 10 games above .500 (22-12).

Putting the Cubs Into Hibernation: After scoring at least five runs in nine straight games at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark prior to Saturday, the I-Cubs have been held to a total of three runs the last two games. Saturday marked Oklahoma City's first shutout against the I-Cubs since a 4-0 win Aug. 21, 2011 at Iowa, a stretch of 37 games.

Mound Magic: Since the All-Star Break, the RedHawks have a 2.33 ERA (27 ER/104.1 IP). The starters have combined for a 2.27 ERA (18 ER/71.1 IP) and allowed more than two earned runs in a game just twice.

Springer On the Verge: Yesterday George Springer collected his 29th home run of the season, including his time with Double-A Corpus Christi. His 29 homers lead all players in the Minors this season, and he has 33 stolen bases. Springer is now one home run away from becoming the first player in the Minors to go 30/30 since Grant Desme in 2009. Springer's homer Sunday was his 10th in 29 Triple-A games and his second in as many nights. He is 5-for-10 this series with five RBI and six runs scored.

Jimmy Jamming: Jimmy Paredes is on a seven-game hitting streak and has hit safely in each of his last eight games (*first game on July 23 not part of streak since stats revert to June 8). He collected his 20th multi-hit game of the season Sunday, going 2-for-3. Paredes is hitting .375 (12-for-32) with two home runs and seven RBI during the eight-game stretch.

As the Crowe Flies: Astros outfielder Trevor Crowe is 1-for-6 so far during his rehab assignment. Crowe has been sidelined since spraining the AC joint in his right shoulder after he ran into a wall while attempting to make a catch on June 20. He spent the first month of the season with the RedHawks, hitting .307 with two homers and 14 RBI. The RedHawks are 10-2 when Crowe leads off this season, and he is hitting .326 with a .420 on-base percentage when batting first.

Homerton: Jon Singleton collected his fourth home run of the season with Oklahoma City Sunday. He has hits in back-to-back games for the first time since July 12 when he collected hits in each game of the RedHawks' doubleheader against New Orleans.

Roller Koaster: The RedHawks struck out just two Iowa batters Sunday, tying a season-low for a nine-inning game. That immediately followed the 14 strikeouts put together by OKC's pitching staff in Saturday's win, the second-most in a game this season.

Closing Bell: Oklahoma City is 16-10 overall in series finales this season, including 10-2 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
