Reno Aces News Release
RENO, Nev.-The Aces completed their second-straight victory on Sunday night, 6-5, securing a season series win over the Tacoma Rainiers at Aces Ballpark.
Juan Rivera's three run shot in the first, his fifth home run of the season, boosted the Aces to an early 3-0 lead. After Tacoma posted five runs across the next four frames, Chris Owings hit his twelfth home run of the season to bring Reno within one, down 5-4.
Back-to-back doubles and a single to lead off the bottom of the sixth pushed across a pair of runs for Reno to regain the lead.
Owings recorded his first multi-hit game since July 18, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. The middle of the Aces line up-Juan Rivera, Alfredo Marte, and Brad Snyder-combined to go 6-for-12 with four RBI and three runs.
RHP Garrett Mock earned his team-leading eighth victory of the season, throwing 1.2 shutout innings following the exit of starter Charles Brewer. Mock gave up just one hit and struck out one in his first outing since July 23.
Evan Marshall was credited with a save after shutting out Tacoma over the final frame. The save was the fifth in July for a Reno pitcher, setting a new record for most saves in a single month this season for the Aces.
The series wraps up Monday afternoon at Aces Ballpark, as Reno looks to earn a series win. RHP Nate Adcock (5-5, 7.48 ERA) will take the mound for Reno, while the Rainiers will counter with RHP Hector Noesi (2-1, 7.20 ERA). First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. PT for another Margarita Monday presented by Alice @ 96.5.
