Trenton Devils News Release
TRENTON, NJ - Heading into this week on a season-high four-game winning streak, the Trenton Titans came out the other side on season-high three-game losing streak. Despite failing to notch a point in three games this weekend, the Titans still remain in third place in the North Division.
The Dayton Bombers seemingly had last Friday's 9-1 loss to the Titans still fresh on their minds as they dominated from start to finish in a 4-1 win over Trenton at the Nutter Center. Dominic Noel and A.J. MacLean each scored goals toward the end of the first frame to give the Bombers a 2-0 lead. That would be all the scoring goaltender Mike Ayers needed as his 28-save performance helped Dayton register the victory. Jim Henkel provided the lone marker for the Titans.
In the second of the two-game series versus the Bombers, the Titans allowed six different Dayton players light the lamp in a 6-2 defeat. Though Matt Maglione's first goal of the year gave Trenton a 1-0 lead just 3:16 into the contest, Dayton rattledoff three unanswered goals to take control of the contest. Ned Haven got his tenth of the season to pull his team within one goal, but the Titans would get no closer.
Trenton rolled into WesBanco Arena on Sunday looking to finish their weekend on a high note against the Wheeling Nailers. The Titans outshot the Nailers 13-4 in the first stanza but were down 1-0 after one on Bo Cheesman's power play tally. Wheeling broke the game open with a three-goal second period that put the game out of reach for Trenton. Dave Marlin took the loss in his season debut, stopping 13 of 18.
The Titans play the fourth and fifth games against the Bombers this month on Friday, January 20 and Saturday, January 21.
