Alaska Aces News Release
The Alaska Aces and The Blood Bank of Alaska will be hosting a blood drive Friday, January 20th from 10am-5pm at the Aces office, located on 15th and Gambell. All fans that receive a screening prior to donating will receive a free ticket voucher to any January home game.
Those who are interested in donating are encouraged to make an appointment by calling the Blood Bank of Alaska at 222-5632, but walk-ins are always welcome. Participants can expect about a 35-minute screening and a 15-minute blood donation.
During the January 2005 blood drive, Aces fans generated 50 presenting donors with 32 usable units of blood. This allowed the Blood Bank of Alaska to aid 96 Alaskans in meeting their medical needs.
The blood products donated are used for such emergencies as auto accidents (50 units of blood), burn victims (20 units of platelets), heart surgery (6 units of blood) and bone marrow transplants (20 units of blood).
Aces fans that get a screening before donating blood will receive one free ticket voucher to be redeemed at one of the following games: January 20th, 21st, 28th or 29th. (Valid for 2006 only.)
After the blood drive, fans can watch the Aces take on the Stockton Thunder, a team making their first appearance in Alaska. Game time is set for 7:15 PM on Friday, January 20th and Saturday, January 21st. The Aces then face off against the Augusta Lynx at 2:05 PM Saturday, January 28th and at 5:05 PM Sunday, January 29th.
Tickets are available at the Alaska Aces Office, Sullivan Arena or at any Fred Meyer location. Purchase tickets online at www.alaskaaces.com or by phone at 562-4800.
