The Gwinnett Gladiators overcame a 2-0 first period deficit to knock off the Inferno 6-2 on Monday afternoon in front of 6,287 at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.

Columbia opened up a 2-0 lead on the Gladiators off of Pat Noonan less than five minutes into the first period. Noonan's first goal came 3:37 into the first period as he froze Gladiators goaltender Mike Dunham and ripped the puck past the netminder to the far post. Dallas Flaman picked up an assist on goal.

His second came just 58 seconds later, beating Dunham with a snap shot from the off wing. Hayward posted an assist on the goal at 4:34 of the first period.

Adam Smyth got the Gladiators on the board with his second goal in as many games to cut the Inferno lead in half. Smyth deflected Danny Eberly's slapshot from the point for the goal. Derek Nesbitt also had an assist on the tally 5:50 into the first period.

Gwinnett equalized the contest on Jeff Campbell's 17th goal of the season. A power play tally 9:27 into the first period, Campbell took a rink wide pass from Derek Nesbitt to set up the marker. Scott Mifsud also had a helper on the tally.

Milan Gajic gave Gwinnett its first lead of the game sliding by a Columbia defenseman and ripping a snap shot past Columbia netminder Chris Houle. Smyth dropped the puck off for Gajic in the left wing circle for an assist on the tally. Troy Milam also picked up an assist on the power play goal at 10:48 of the second period.

Gajic's second tally of the game came at the 13:29 mark of the second period as he flipped the puck off the glass where it hit a seam and bounced right back to Gajic. The forward then beat Houle to the far post. Scott Mifsud and Smyth hooked up for the assists on the goal.

Derek Nesbitt pushed the Gladiators lead to 5-2 with his 14th goal of the season. A Columbia defenseman fanned on a break out pass in front of his own net leaving the puck right for Nesbitt who jammed the puck past Houle. Nesbitt's unassisted goal came at 16:06 of the third period.

Danny Eberly rounded out the scoring with a slap shot from the point that beat Houle 13:08 into the final period. John Awe and Scott Kelman posted the assists on the goal right off and offensive zone draw inside the Columbia zone.

Mike Dunham, in his second game with the Gladiators on the conditioning assignment from the Atlanta Thrashers, made 11 saves in the win helping Gwinnett improve to 23-8-5 on the season. Gwinnett was just 4 shots shy of holding the Inferno to the ECHL record of 9 for fewest shots in game.
