
Titans climb standings with two wins

TRENTON, NJ - With only four points separating five of the eight teams in the North Division, the Trenton Titans used two wins over the weekend to vault into second place in the division.
The Titans started off the week by halting the Reading Royals' nine-game winning streak with a 5-3 win at the Sovereign Center on Friday. The Royals returned the favor the following night with a 2-1 victory on the Titans' home-ice. Trenton finished it's three-game, three-day set with a 4-3 shootout win over the Johnstown Chiefs on Sunday afternoon. The match marked the fourth time in four games that the Titans and Chiefs have played past regulation.
The Titans head on a five-game road trip beginning with their third consecutive weekend with three games in three days.
The Trenton Titans head to Toledo for two games - Friday, December 10 at 7:30pm and Saturday, December 11 at 7:30pm. Trenton finishes the weekend with a Sunday evening game against the Wheeling Nailers at 7:00pm.

Friday, December 3 @ Reading W 5-3 Sovereign Center
- Rick Kowalsky and the Trenton Titans ended the Reading Royals' nine-game winning streak with a 5-3 win. Down 2-0 in the first period, the Titans would go on to score five unanswered goals. Brent Robinson scored his fourth of the season at 13:18 of the first to start the eventual comeback. Just :44 into second period, Scott Bertoli took a feed from B.J. Abel and beat Barry Brust up high to tie the score 2-2. From there it was all Kowalsky. The 12th year pro was able to beat Brust through a screen later in that period to give Trenton their first lead of game. He then put gave the Titans a two-goal cushion with a power play goal at 17:34 of middle period. Kowalsky put in a rebound of Nick Deschenes shot at 4:01 of the third to make the score 5-2 and complete the hat trick. Andrew Allen, sent down from the Providence Bruins earlier this week, was stellar in his return, stopping 35 shots for his fifth win of the season. Trenton was 1-for-4 on the power play and 6-for-7 on the penalty kill.
Saturday, December 4 vs. Reading L 2-1 Sovereign Bank Arena
- The Trenton Titans could not complete the weekend sweep as they fell 2-1 to the Reading Royals. The Titans took the lead with a power play goal from B.J. Abel at 7:04 of the first period. In the second period, the Royals would battle back to tie it up at 8:46 when John Fransisco beat a screened Andrew Allen through the five-hole for his sixth goal of the season. Trenton came out with jump to start the final frame, but could not solve Barry Brust, who made 27 saves for the game. Mike Souza would tally the eventual game-winner with 5:28 left in the game on a wrister that again beat a screened Allen. The Titans goaltender made 22 saves suffering only his second loss in regulation this season.
Sunday, December 5 vs. Johnstown W 4-3 (SO) Sovereign Bank Arena
- Titans' goaltender Chris Houle stopped all four shootout attempts by Johnstown while Phil Lewandowski and Mathieu Brunelle scored on each of their attempts to lift Trenton to a 4-3 victory. It was the fourth time in as many games that the Titans defeated Johnstown after regulation. Johnstown opened the first period with two power play goals by Grant Stevenson and Jeremy Van Hoof just :59 apart to take a 2-0 lead. Trenton responded with two quick goals of their own in the first period as Rick Kowalsky lit the lamp at 14:11 on the power play. One minute ntwenty-six seconds later, Phil Lewandowski put in a rebound off Jerramie Domish slapshot to tie the score 2-2. Mathieu Brunelle would give the Titans the lead at 4:36 of the second period with his fourth tally of the year. Johnstown's Joe Tallari would notch the equalizer 6:14 into the third to send the game into overtime and the eventual shootout. Chris Houle finished the game with 34 saves, 16 in the second period, to raise his record 5-1-2.

- The second match in the two-game set at Toledo Sports Arena. The Storm are 5-3-0 on their home ice this year and Titans are 5-1-1 on the road. Trenton leads the all-time series 13-2-1.
Sunday, December 12 @ Wheeling, 7:00pm 1350-AM Moneytalk WesBanco Arena
- The second contest out ten this year. The Titans are 0-0-1 versus the Nailers on a 3-2 OT loss at WesBanco Arena on November 26. Chris Houle made 42 saves earning the third star of the night.

In the Community:
December 17th - The Trenton Titans in association with St. Francis Medical Center will be holding their fifth annual Teddy Bear Toss and Toy Drive as they take on the Wheeling Nailers at the Sovereign Bank Arena. Fans are encouraged to bring teddy bears to toss onto the ice during the second intermission and unwrapped toys to be collected at arena entrances. All items will be donated to Angel's Wings, CARES and Children's Futures in conjunction with St. Francis Medical Center.
December 18th - The Trenton Titans will be hosting their third annual "Time With A Titan" Auction immediately after their game against the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies. Fans will be able to bid for the chance to take their favorite Titans to dinner at Triumph Brewery in New Hope, PA. Winning bids will also receive an authentic personalized Titans jersey along with a special gift. Proceeds from the auction will go to benefit the Somerset Home for Temporarily Displaced Children and The Butterfly Foundation.
