ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades finished this past week's action with a perfect 4-0-0 record, as the team reached a season high five game winning streak at the close of the week. Overall, the âBlades enter this week's action with a record of 11-9-0 (22 pts., 2nd South Division).

Tuesday, December 7 at Gwinnett Gladiators 7:05 PM
GAME NOTES: The âBlades and Gladiators meet for the second of six times this season. The South Division rivals met on Oct. 25 in Florida, with the Everblades emerging with a 4-3 shootout victory in the first meeting of the year between the teams. Florida and Gwinnett face-off against each other twice more in Florida and Gwinnett following Tuesday's game. The Gladiators enter this week's action riding a six-game winning streak and are unbeaten in regulation on home ice this season. Gwinnett holds a record of 11-3-4 (24 pts. 1st South Division). The Everblades have an all-time record of 1-4-2 vs. Gwinnett.
Friday & Saturday, December 10 & 11 vs. South Carolina Stingrays Both Games at 7:30 PM
GAME NOTES: The âBlades and Stingrays meet for the second and third times this season over the weekend. Florida won the first match-up between the two clubs on 12/3 at South Carolina 3-1. The two former division rivals meet a total of five times this year. The Stingrays enter this week's action having won just three of their previous 10 games, and hold a record of 9-11-1 (19 pts. 3rd East Division). The Everblades have an all-time record of 26-12-7 vs. South Carolina.
LAST WEEK'S RESULTS
Tuesday, November 30 vs. Las Vegas Wranglers, 5-4 W
The Everblades pushed their winning streak to two games with their second straight win over Las Vegas. The âBlades outlasted the Wranglers 5-4 in a back-and-forth contest. Brad Church and Matt Hendricks scored first period goals to give Florida an early 2-0 lead. After the Wranglers tied the game at two Steve Saviano regained the lead for the âBlades at 3-2. Las Vegas took a 4-3 lead early in the third period, but Church notched his second goal of the night to tie the game at four. Damian Surma collected the game-winner for Florida with 1:08 remaining in the game Craig Kowalski started in goal for Florida an picked up the win stopping 29 of 33 Las Vegas shots. The Everblades finished the regular season with a 2-0-0 record over Las Vegas. Florida special teams: PP: 0-for-2, PK: 4-4.
Friday, December 3 at South Carolina Stingrays, 3-1 W
The Florida Everblades (9-9-0) won their third straight game with a 3-1 victory over the South Carolina Stingrays. Kris Vernarsky and Matt Hendricks each scored in the second period for the âBlades to open the scoring. The Stingrays closed to within one early in the third period, but Tim O'Connell sealed the victory for the Everblades with an empty net goal in the closing minute. Craig Kowalski made several big saves throughout the contest to pick up his third straight win, stopping 34 South Carolina shots. The âBlades now lead the season series 1-0-0, with four games remaining between the two teams. Florida special teams: PP: 0-for-2, PK: 1-for-1.
Saturday, December 4 at Pee Dee Pride, 5-1 W
The Everblades picked up a 5-1 win over Pee Dee to run their winning streak to four straight games. The loss was also the first in regulation on home ice for the Pride this season. Florida opened up a 5-0 lead midway through the third period before Pee Dee was able to find the scoreboard. Brent McDonald notched a hat trick for the Everblades and David Lundbohm chipped in with two goals. Rob Zepp played strong in net for the âBlades turning aside 34 of 35 Pee Dee shots. The win gave Florida a 2-1-0 record vs. Pee Dee this season. Florida special teams: PP: 0-for-1, PK: 2-for-3.
Sunday, December 5 at Pee Dee Pride, 4-2 W
The Everblades ran their winning streak to a season-high five games on Sunday afternoon in Florence, SC. For the fifth straight game, the âBlades opened the scoring with a goal by Brent McDonald midway through the first period. Matt Hendricks added a first period goal just 41 seconds later giving the âBlades an 2-0 lead after one period. The Pride cut the lead in half midway through the second period, but McDonald's second goal regained the two-goal advantage for Florida. In the closing moments of the contest, the Pride pulled the goaltender for the extra attacker, and scored to make it a 3-2 contest, but Keith Anderson sealed the victory with an empty-net goal with 53 seconds remaining. Craig Kowalski earned his fourth straight win between the pipes for the âBlades by making 36 saves. The âBlades lead the season series 3-1-0 with one game remaining between the two teams. Florida special teams: PP: 0-for-1, PK: 3-for-3.

Player of the Week Nominee: The Everblades ECHL Player of the Week nominee this week was forward Brent McDonald, who tallied six points (5g, 1a) in three games played. McDonald collected an assist on Dec. 3 at South Carolina, and then added a hat trick on Dec. 4 in Pee Dee, before closing out the week with two goals against the Pride on Dec. 5. McDonald finished the week with two game-winning goals.
On a Roll!: The Everblades have won a season-high five straight games to push themselves within four points of the number one spot in the conference standings. The streak began on Nov. 27 with a 1-0 victory over Las Vegas.
First Goal: Scoring the first goal of the game is always important, and the Everblades have done that in each of the last five games, all of which have been won by the âBlades. Overall, Florida is 8-2-0 when scoring the first goal of the game.
League Leaders: Forward Matt Hendricks is tied for 7th in the ECHL in scoring with 20 points...the rookie also ranks third in scoring among all ECHL rookies, and is third among rookies with 70 shots...Damian Surma is 13th among ECHL scorers with 18 points...Matt Pagnutti is tied for 5th in scoring among ECHL defenseman.
Teddy Bear Toss!: This Saturday, Dec. 11 the Everblades are holding their annual Teddy Bear Toss at Germain Arena. Fans are asked to bring a plush toy with them to the game and when the âBlades score their first goal of the night, toss those teddy bears onto the ice! The bears will benefit less fortunate children this holiday season.
Coach's Show: The Florida Everblades weekly coach's show, "Blades Talk" will return on Monday, December 13 at Stevie Tomato's Sports Page in Cape Coral. The show will run live from 7-8 p.m. and can be heard live on SportsRadio 770 AM. The weekly Monday night show features the "voice" of the Florida Everblades Kevin Reiter along with âBlades head coach Gerry Fleming. Each week a different Everblades player will join Reiter and Fleming to talk about the Everblades previous games from the past week, and take a look at what's coming up for the âBlades. Fans are encouraged to attend!
