
TinCaps Drubbed by Dayton, 15-10

DAYTON, Ohio - The TinCaps jumped out to an early lead only to be blown out, 15-10, by the Dayton Dragons, Monday at Fifth Third Field. Jeudy Valdez led the way with four hits.
Fort Wayne pounced on the Dragons in the top of the second, scoring three runs. Jon Alia ripped a two-out RBI single to left, then two batters later Jonathan Galvez pounded a two-run triple off the wall in left to make it 3-0.
The TinCaps added another run in the top of the fourth, but Dayton piled up eight runs in the bottom of the fourth. Tommy Nurre drove in a pair with a double, Mark Fleury tripled home a run, Ryan LaMarre doubled to drive in two more, then Henry Rodriguez capped the rally with an RBI double to make it 8-4.
In the top of the sixth, Wande Olabisi put the TinCaps back into it with a two-run missile to left, making it 8-6. The Dragons blew it back open with four runs in the bottom of the frame, Cameron Satterwhite's home run the big blow.
Down 15-8 in the ninth, Jason Hagerty jumped on the first pitch he saw for a two-run homer, finishing the scoring at 15-10.
Fort Wayne LHP Nick Greenwood (4-4) took the loss, allowing seven runs in 3.2 innings despite retiring ten batters in a row at one point. Dayton LHP Justin Walker (2-8) picked up his first win since May 3. RHP Pedro Villareal pitched the final three innings to notch his first save.
Fort Wayne dipped to 1-3 in the second half, 37-37 overall. Dayton picked up his first win to improve to 1-3, 31-42 for the year.
The TinCaps continue the series Tuesday against the Dragons (Class-A Cincinnati Reds) at 7:00 p.m. Fort Wayne RHP Jerry Sullivan (5-3) goes to the mound against Dayton RHP Ricky Bowen (1-1).
