Burlington, IA (June 28, 2010) - Nick Wooley turned in his best start of the year on Monday night, but the Peoria Chiefs pushed across a pair of late runs to pick up a 3-1 series-opening win at Community Field.

Wooley needed only 74 pitches to get through seven innings, his longest start as a professional. He held the Peoria offense to one run on four hits with three walks and four strikeouts.

Two of the three free passes led to the first Peoria tally. The Edwardsville, Illinois product walked Hak-Ju Lee and Matt Cerda, the first two batters of the game, and surrendered an RBI groundout to Greg Rohan that gave the Chiefs the initial 1-0 advantage.

A Bees rally in the fourth left the game level at one. Gerard Hall opened the inning with a single and moved to second on a J.D. Alfaro sacrifice bunt. Wil Myers's bloop single to center proved to be the equalizer as Hall raced home.

That remained the score until the top of the eighth when Cerda's RBI single off of Scott Kelley (L, 0-2) broke the tie. Jae-Hoon Ha took Ryan Dennick deep in the ninth for insurance.

Peoria's Jeff Antigua was every bit as good as Wooley, working six innings of one-run baseball with four strikeouts, a walks, and three hits allowed. Ronny Morla (W, 2-2) pitched a pair of scoreless relief frames, and Frank Batista (S, 2) twirled a hitless ninth to seal the win. With two outs, Lee, the Chiefs' shortstop, made a spectacular running grab with his back to the infield on a bloop off the bat of Myers to end the contest.

The Bees continue the homestand against Peoria tomorrow night at 6:30 on Hawk Eye Two-for-Tuesday. Clip the coupon out of the Hawk Eye and present it at the box office prior to the game to receive two general admission tickets for the price of one.
