Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
APPLETON, Wisconsin - The Quad Cities River Bandits needed 14 innings to take the series opener with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. The Bandits were down 6-5 heading into the eighth inning and after two quick outs Michael Swinson hit a single setting the stage for Devin Goodwin. Goodwin roped an RBI triple to tie up the game sending it into extra innings. In the 14th inning Frederick Parejo hit a triple bringing Edgar Lara to the plate. Lara struck out swinging but the third strike got away from Timber Rattlers' catcher Cameron Garfield brining Parejo across the plate resulting in the 7-6 final.
Offensively, Goodwin led the way for the Bandits going 3-for-7 with a triple and two RBI. Robert Stock added three RBI on a 2-for-7 night. Matt Adams was 2-for-6 as he knocked his 20th double of the season. Parejo and Swinson each added a pair of base hits.
Dan Calhoun (5-0) threw just one inning for the Bandits and struck out the side in the 13th inning. Calhoun picked up his fifth win. Aaron Terry (9) chalked up his ninth save by pitching the final three outs for the Bandits. He surrendered two hits and fanned one without allowing a run. Matt Costello (0-1) was charged with his first loss of the season after surrendering just one run in an inning of work.
The Bandits and Timber Rattlers square off again on Tuesday night as Quad Cities sends right-hander Joe Kelly (3-5) to the bump. Kelly will face-off with Milwaukee Brewers starter Doug Davis who is on a major league rehab assignment. Game time is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wisconsin.
