BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - LHP Mark Hardy allowed just one run in seven innings, but the TinCaps struggled with the bats in a 3-0 loss to the Bowling Green Hot Rods, Tuesday at Bowling Green Ballpark.

It was the second time this year Hardy pitched well in Bowling Green only to take a loss. He went seven frames, allowing a run on seven hits, no walks and a season-high nine strikeouts. It snapped a five-start winning streak for Hardy.

The TinCaps had their chances, putting runners in scoring position in four different innings. But they went 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position and were shut out for the seventh time this year.

Bowling Green took the lead in the bottom of the fourth when Julio Cedeno cranked a leadoff home run just over the center-field wall.

The Hot Rods extended their lead in the eighth as Derek Dietrich led off with a triple and scored on a single by Phil Wunderlich. Pinch runner and Bishop Luers product Kevin Kiermaier stole second and advanced to third on an errant throw by the catcher, then scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-0.

Bowling Green RHP Jason McEachern (1-1) fired six shutout innings to grab the win; LHP Chris Rearick notched his 16th save. Hardy (8-8) took the hard-luck loss and has received a decision in all 14 of his starts this year.

The TinCaps fell to 19-18 in the half, 49-57 for the season. Bowling Green improved to 19-18 since the all-star break, 60-47 on the year.

The TinCaps and Hot Rods (Class-A Tampa Bay Rays) continue the four-game series Wednesday at 7:35 p.m. ET. TinCaps RHP Adys Portillo (2-10) takes the ball against Hot Rods RHP Eliazer Suero (6-4).
