South Bend Silver Hawks News Release
South Bend, IN - The South Bend Silver Hawks will pay tribute to police, fire and EMS workers on August 6th for their extraordinary community service. Police, fire, and EMS workers will be honored during a special pre-game ceremony. First pitch between South Bend and the Bowling Green Hot Rods is set for 5:30 PM with the gates opening at 4:00 PM.
The Silver Hawks will also honor one Silver Hawks player with the Corporal Paul Deguch Community Service Award. The award is named after Paul Deguch, a former South Bend police officer killed in the line of duty. The Silver Hawks player who demonstrates outstanding community service throughout the course of the season will be presented with the award.
Saturday will also feature a special Silver Hawks bobblehead giveaway to the first 1,000 fans courtesy of South Bend Orthopedic. There will be a pre-game concert by local group Jetta & the Jellybeans sponsored by the South Bend Tribune.
BirdZerk! will be at the Cove to entertain fans of all ages. Come see the wildest, craziest show in sports as BirdZerk! brings his crazy skits and hilarious antics.
