Tigers Fall in Us Division Road Trip Finale in Spokane

Spokane, WA - The Medicine Hat Tigers fell below .500 to close out their US Division road-trip in Spokane Friday night.
The hometown Chiefs took to the scoresheet early on a Spokane power play thanks to a Ty Cheveldayoff tally at 4:08 and that was followed up shortly after as the Chiefs kept momentum in the Tigers end where Chase Bertholet knocked home a back door tap-in to make it 2-0 Spokane at 5:12. The Tigers would respond over 3 minutes later on a power play of their own as Brenden Lee (Seattle, WA) knocked a bouncing pass over from Dru Krebs (Okotoks, AB) at 8:49 to cut the deficit to 2-1 after the 20 minutes of play.
Off to the second where Shane Smith (Cessford, AB) scored his 5th goal of the road trip on a partial break-away beating Cooper Michaluk short side to make 2-2. But theme would occur for the Tigers on this night, everytime they'd be in the hunt and tie the game, Spokane had an answer, at the 9:48 mark of the second Saige Weinstein would score his second of the season to give the Chiefs a 3-2 lead heading to the third.
In the final period of the road trip, the Tigers would once again tie it as Oasiz Wiesblatt (Calgary, AB) would re-direct a Krebs shot from the point to tie the game 3-3. Unfortunately a penalized Tigers squad would give up another power play goal as Berkly Catton would give the Chiefs another lead at 4-3. Despite an onslaught of offence throughout the 3rd, the Tigers couldn't respond a third time as late in the third Blake Swetlikoff would answer on a turnover in the Tigers zone to make 5-3 with less than two minutes to go. Kooper Gizowski would seal things with an empty netter with just 11 second left in regulation.
With the loss the Tigers drop to a 3-4-1 record and finish 2-2-1 on their longest road trip of the season, despite the loss, the Tigers are in 2nd in the Central Division pending the results of the rest of the WHL Schedule.
The Tigers will travel home and rest before beginning preparations for their first home game since October 1st as they welcome the Central's leaders the Red Deer Rebels to Co-op Place. Tickets are available on tixx.ca.
