
Chiefs Pick Up Impressive First Home Win Of The Season, 6-3 Against The Medicine Hat Tigers

Spokane, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs picked up their first home win of the season with a resounding 6-3 victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers.
Ty Cheveldayoff got the party started with a power play goal at 4:08 in the first, with assists from Bertholet and De Luca.
Next up was Bertholet himself who netted his second goal of the season thanks to helpers from Berkly Catton and Ben Bonni.
Medicine Hat pulled one back later in the 1st period with a power play goal at 8:49 from Brendan Lee. Shane Smith of the Tigers opened the scoring in the 2nd period to tie it up 2-2.
Saige Weinstein was on his toes to pick up a rebound and fire one home in the 2nd, Kooper Gizowski added to his team lead in points with the assist and Blake Swetlikoff also had an apple on the play.
Wiesblatt from the Tigers answered in the 3rd to make the game 3-3 before Spokane opened the flood gates.
Berkly Catton netted his 3rd goal of the season with what ended up being the game winning power play goal at 10:12 of the 3rd period. Blake Swetlikoff followed that up with an insurance goal before Kooper Gizowski closed things out with just 11 seconds remaining in the game.
The Chiefs scored on 60% of their power plays going 3/5 on the night while killing 4/5 penalty chances for Medicine Hat. 6 different players scored for Spokane while rookie netminder Cooper Michaluk kept out 32 of the 35 shots he faced.
The Chiefs are back in action tomorrow night against the Tri-City Americans for Leinenkugel's HOCKtoberfest. Make sure to come early for the festivities as we celebrate German heritage night and the Octoberfest season from 4pm-6pm.
