Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Victoria, BC - The Brandon Wheat Kings 3 goal lead wasn't enough Saturday as the Victoria Royals storm back to win 5-3 Saturday.
The Wheat Kings didn't open the scoring until the 2nd period where Trae Johnson was able to net his first of the year to make it 1-0. Evan Groening would score on a penalty shot with 13 minutes to go to add to the lead. Only 26 seconds later the line of Calder Anderson, Nolan Ritchie and Rylen Roersma would connect on a tic tac toe play allowing Roersma to score his 3rd of the year to make it 3-0 Wheat Kings midway through the hockey game. Things changed when the Royals were able to score a pair courtesy of Carter Dereniwsky and Alex Edwards to cut the Wheat Kings lead to one after 40 minutes.
In the final frame the Wheat Kings would allow three goals from the Royals. Tanner Scott, Jake Poole, and Caleb Willms all scored to put the game out of reach allowing the Royals to skate off with their second straight win of the season. The Wheat Kings would suffer their first loss of the West Coast Road Trip.
