Medicine Hat Tigers News Release

Medicine Hat, AB - Momentum swings for both the Medicine Hat Tigers and Swift Current Broncos lead for a wild entertaining night Saturday at Co-op Place but saw the Tigers fall 6-4 to the Broncos on REMAX Presents: Nickelodeon Night for Children's Miracle Network where the Tigers drew in over 3200 fans for their specialty Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle jerseys.

The Broncos opened the scoring thanks to a Caleb Wyrostok finish on a Broncos two on one beating goaltender Beckett Langkow (Vegreville, AB) at 16:25, but just under two minutes later the Tigers would rattle off three goals in matter of 55 seconds as Oasiz Wiesblatt (Calgary, AB) finished off a two on none breakway with Brenden Lee (Seattle, WA) sending Wiesblatt in for his 16th of the season to tie the game at 1-1. Just 33 seconds later after solid work on the wall Tomas Mrsic (Surry, BC) found Andrew Basha (Calgary, AB) who then fed Dallon Melin (Czar, AB) for his 8th of the season to gives the Tigers their first lead of 2-1 at 18:54. Then 22 seconds after the Melin tally, Dru Krebs (Okotoks, AB) would beat Reid Dyck to make it 3-1 Tigers at 19:16 with Basha and Melin helping out to give Medicine Hat the lead heading to the second period.

The Tigers would continue their trend of scoring on a Broncos power play as Brayden Boehm (Nanaimo, BC) would keep on a shorthanded two on one to make it 4-1 Tigers for his 16th of the season unassisted.

But cue the Broncos as they'd push back thanks to Rylan Gould's 1st of the year at 12:37 to cut the deficit in half at 4-2. Swift would keep coming as Josh Davies would rip his 9th of the campaign past Langkow on a Bronco power play to make 4-3 Tigers at 14:44. But the Tigers would hold that lead heading to the final frame.

In the third it would be the Broncos catching a break off a redirected shot that never left play just 1:05 in and the eventual bouncing puck in the Tigers crease would be knocked in by Matthew Ward for his 15th of the year tying the game at 4-4. Both teams would trade chances including a great display of goaltending from Dyck robbing Gavin McKenna of his first WHL goal late in the period, but it would be the Broncos again countering on pucks in tight vicinities as Ward would get his 16th and second straight off of Beckett Langkow's arm and mask and in to make it 5-4 Swift Current with 5:10 left in the game.

Caleb Wyrostok would finish things off for his 2nd of the night on a empty net goal with 20 seconds left to make a 6-4 final for the Broncos.

The Tigers end up outshooting the Broncos 33-32 while going 0/4 on the power play and 3/4 on the penalty kill to drop their record to 14-19-5-1.

Next up for the Tigers is a chance at redemption as they'll travel to the iPlex to face the Broncos against on Tuesday, January, 10. You can catch the game on WILD 94.5 with Gino De Paoli starting with the pre-game show at 5:45 MT/ST and puck drop will commence after 6 PM.
