Hershey Bears News Release
2/15/2006 8:53:00 AM - HERSHEY travels to southern Connecticut for a mid-week tilt tonight in Bridgeport with many old faces returning from Washington and a new goaltender to replace injured netminder Kirk Daubenspeck.
Forwards Boyd Gordon, Boyd Kane, and Doug Doull along with defenseman Mike Green are all back after spending the weekend with Washington. All are expected to be in the lineup tonight. The BEARS have also recalled goaltender Maxime Daigneault from South Carolina (ECHL) after Daubenspeck was injured in practice on Tuesday prior to the team's departure for Bridgeport. Daigneault played in 11 AHL games last season for Portland, and has a 13-10-7 record for the Stingrays in 2005-06. Daubenspeck is listed as day-to-day.
HERSHEY fell to Bridgeport 5-2 on Saturday night at GIANT Center, the first time in six meetings that the BEARS have not registered a point against the Sound Tigers in 2005-06. Tonight's game is the seventh of eight contests between the two clubs, with the final encounter of the year on Wednesday, March 29 at the Arena at Harbor Yard. The BEARS have already clinched the season series against Bridgeport. HERSHEY begins the night six points behind first place Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and 12 points ahead of both Norfolk and Bridgeport for third place in the East Division. The Penguins skate in Albany tonight against the River Rats while Norfolk hosts the Manchester Monarchs at Scope tonight.
Tonight's game is being broadcast back to central PA via the BEARS Radio Network (100.1 FM, 1490-AM and 960-AM). John Walton has the call of the action beginning with the pregame show at 6:45 p.m. The game is also available via Pennlive.com and B2 Networks provides video of the game via HersheyBears.com. In addition to the options listed here, Saturday's game against Manchester will also be available on XM Satellite Radio on XM channel 204.
