NORFOLK, VA - Today, the Norfolk Admirals announced they have acquired defensemen Brandon Rogers on loan from the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights (AHL) while center Ajay Baines has been re-assigned to Omaha by the Chicago Blackhawks.

Currently in his first pro season, Rogers has appeared in 42 games with Omaha, posting eight assists for eight points, 24 PIM and a plus-5 rating. He was originally selected by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in the 4th round (117th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

A native of Rochester, NH, Rogers played for the University of Michigan (CCHA) where he collected 18 goals and 59 assists for 77 points with 211 PIM in 159 games. He captained the Wolverines during his senior year, and ranked second among scoring by defensemen with five goals and 22 assists for 27 points.

Baines is currently in his sixth AHL season. In 32 games with Norfolk this year, the Kamloops, BC, native recorded four goals and four assists for eight points, 45 PIM and a minus-3 rating.

A free agent signing out of Norfolk's 2000-01 training camp, Baines became the Admirals' all-time scoring leader earlier this season. In 409 career games, he posted 68 goals and 107 assists for 175 points. Baines has served as team captain since the 2002-03 campaign.
