San Antonio Rampage News Release
MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- San Antonio forward Steve Gainey tallied a goal in his first game back with the Rampage to cut the deficit in half, but the Milwaukee Admirals sailed on to win 5-2 Wednesday night at the Bradley Center. Milwaukee scored four goals in the third period, including a pair of power-play goals and a shorthanded empty-netter.
Milwaukee peppered goaltender Karl Goehring with 39 shots on the night, but both teams remained scoreless throughout the opening period as the Admirals outshot the Rampage 14-6.
After the Rampage gave up a shorthanded goal at 9:40 in the second period, Pavel Brendl responded with a power-play goal 3:56 later to tie the game 1-1. Eric Chouinard and Brad Tiley assisted on Brendl's 14th goal of the season.
Milwaukee's Greg Classen collected two goals in the final frame as he opened and closed the four-goal session. Classen kicked off a three-goal run with the first of two consecutive Milwaukee power-play goals within a three-minute span before Chris Durno made it a 4-1 lead at 13:31.
Mike Bishai and Jeff Taffe helped Gainey cut the Admirals lead to 4-2 as Gainey collected his eighth goal of the season before Classen flipped in the empty-net goal.
The Rampage (15-31-1-4) continue with their second of three consecutive games tomorrow night when they face the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights at 7 p.m.
