Alaska Aces News Release

STOCKTON, Calif. - Ryan Huddy scored twice and assisted on the game-winning goal as the Stockton Thunder beat Alaska in regulation for just the third time in 23 tries, 4-3, in front of 5,103 Friday night at Stockton Arena.

Having absorbed just its second loss in 12 games, Alaska still retains a three-point lead over Victoria in the West Division with an overall record of 12-4-1. The Aces fly tomorrow to Ontario in preparation for their first ever games against the Reign, Sunday at 4:00 p.m. ADT and Monday at 6:00 p.m. ADT.

For the first time ever, Alaska scored first in a game played at Stockton Arena, as newly acquired winger Lance Galbraith, playing his first game for the Aces after winning two Kelly Cups in his five seasons with Idaho, set up Cam Keith for a power play goal at 2:50 of the opening period. Stockton answered with a power play goal of its own, scored by Mike Lalonde at 11:18, and never trailed again. Huddy gave the Thunder their first lead by going coast-to-coast before beating Alaska starter Jean-Philippe Lamoureux top shelf with 3:12 remaining in the first period.

Colin Hemingway whistled a snap shot from between the circles past Stockton goalie Bryan Pitton 3:22 into the second period, deadlocking the contest 2-2. The score remained tied until the third period, when the Thunder took control, out-shooting the Aces 16-7 and grabbing a 4-2 advantage. First, Huddy intercepted a rinkwide pass and again went coast-to-coast, this time on a breakaway, beating Lamoureux at 3:16. Second, the Stockton power play, ranked 20th among 23 ECHL teams coming into Friday's game against the second-rated Alaska penalty killing unit, again came through, as Toby LaFrance scored on a rebound with 11:03 left in regulation.

The Aces pulled Lamoureux with more than two minutes remaining and quickly scored five-on-five, as Jordan Foreman tipped in a shot by Hemingway at the 18:31 mark. However, Alaska failed to get the equalizer and saw its lifetime record against Stockton dip to 16-3-4. All three losses have come by a single goal.

Both games against the Ontario Reign (9-6-2 after a 2-1 win over Bakersfield Friday) will broadcast live on the flagship home of Aces hockey, KFQD 750 AM, with Peanut Farm Pre-Game Show coverage beginning 15 minutes prior to the opening face-off. Alaska's next home game is scheduled for Wednesday, December 3 against Bakersfield, leading into Military Appreciation Weekend, also with the Condors in town, Friday and Saturday, December 5-6. All three games at Sullivan Arena will start at 7:15 p.m.
