Dayton Bombers News Release
Troy, OH- The Dayton Bombers overcame an early 2-0 deficit to defeat the Reading Royals 3-2 at the historic Hobart Arena on Saturday night.
The Royals earned a 1-0 lead in the first period as Kevin Harvey netted his second goal of the year past Dayton's Tyler Plante. The Bombers were outshot in the first 12-7.
Reading again struck first in the second period from Ned Lukasevic at the 11 minute mark, but Bombers leading scorer Justin Bowers cut the Royals lead in half just over a minute later, assisted by Danny LaPointe. Later in the frame the Bombers top goal-scorer, Dan Riedel would tie the game at 2 with his 9th of the year, from Bryson Busniuk and Jarret Lukin on the power play.
Heading into the third the Bombers were being outshot 24-16, however, that didn't stop Ryan Smyth from grabbing the game winner just past six minutes into the third. Christian Gaudet earned a helper on the play.
The Bombers finished the night with 25 shots, compared to Reading's 32. Plante was 30 of 32 for the Bombers, earning his second victory, while Brian Bridges was 22 of 25 for the Royals.
