The Manitoba Moose (Vancouver) are 2nd in the Canadian Divsiion and are currenlty ranked 9th in the Eastern Conference with a 36-31-8-2 record and 82 points. The Moose are one point out of 6th place in the conference which would allow them to avoid the qualifying round... The Moose are ranked 14th while on the powerplay at 16.8% and are 20th when killing penalties at 81.7%... The Baby Leafs and Manitoba Moose are tied with three wins apiece against each other this season. Manitoba has beaten the Leafs in their last three meetings, most recently 2-1 back on February 25... Left-winger Herbert Vasiljevs leads the Moose with 10 points (G,9A) in his last 10 games during his rookie campaign... Corner Brook native Jason King has 36 points (17G,19A) in 63 games. King recently returned from an eight game stint with Vancouver were he recorded two assists with the Canucks. In six games against St. John's King has two goals and two assists... Left-winger Brad Leeb has four points including two goals in six games agianst his former team.

Hot Leafs

Brad Leeb (LW): Brad Leeb has three goals in his last two games and eight points (5G,3A) and is a plus four (+4) in his last 10 games. Leeb leads the team in goals (33), PP goals (14) and game-winners (8).

Allan Rourke (D): Allan Rourke is currently on a three-game point streak (1-4=5). Rourke leads all Maple Leafs defenceman with 11 goals. He has set career highs for goals and points (30) in a season.

Maple Leafs Palyer of the Week

The St. John's Maple Leafs have nominated defencman Allan Rourke as the Maple Leafs Player of the Week. In three games last week Rourke record five points (G,4A). In the Maple Leafs 7-4 win over Hartford last week, Rourke had the game-winning goal and two assists. Rourke leadas all defefencman with 11 goals in 63 games this season.

Pucks & Tux is the Maple Leafs Annual Year End Awards Banquet which is planned for this Saturday, April 5th at the St. John's Convention Centre. The festivities get underway at 7:00pm with a three coarse meal, team awards presentation, fashion show and a live auction. Your host for the evening is Comedian Glenn Downey. The last two remaining St. John's Maple Leafs home games against the Manitoba Moose this Wednesday and Friday, April 2nd & 4th will be broadcast LIVE on Rogers Sportsnet East (CH 30). Game times are 7:35 (NT).

The St. John's Maple Leafs cling to a slim playoff hope. The team is currently on a three-game winning streak and are unbeaten in their last four games.

The Baby Buds have 69 points and a 31-40-6-1 record. They trail the Springfield Falcons by three points with two games remaining. Springfield has 72 points with three games left in the 2002-03 campaign.

Goaltender Mikael Tellqvist has won his last two games since returning from the injury list. Tellqvist stopped 83 of 85 shots he faced including 48 of 49 in a 2-1 win over Saint John last Saturday night.

The Maple Leafs are ranked 17th in the League while on the powerplay at a 16.3% success rate. When the team is leading after two periods of play they are 20-1-1-0 and when they score four or more goals their record is 24-9-0-0.
