Manitoba Moose News Release

The Moose are proud to announce that the "tin for the bin" game on Friday, March 28 collected a record amount for the Winnipeg Harvest Food Bank. Moose fans dropped off the equivalent of 17,878 pounds of food and with the Peak of the Market growers matching the amount, the record total was established at 35,574 pounds.

The almost 18 tons of food for Winnipeg Harvest collected from the one game shattered the 2000 mark when fans brought in the equivalent of 17,056 pounds and Peak of the Market matched the amount and the total was set at 34,112 pounds.

"We are tremendously excited that Moose fans responded to our goal of squashing the old record and generously donating to the Winnipeg Harvest Food Bank," stated Larry McIntosh, President and CEO of Peak of the Market.

At the March 28 game, Peak of the Market volunteers and families were at the doors to accept food donations. "The partnership with Peak of the Market is another example of the organization's involvement with the community and we thank the tireless effort put forth by the Peak of the Market staff and volunteers," commented Manitoba Moose Chief Operating Officer Robert Thorsten.
