SECOND JERSEY AUCTION RAISES $21,740
The Phantoms Wives Charity Foundation, a division of the Comcast-Spectacor Foundation, raised $21,740 on March 23 in the second jersey auction of the season. As part of Tribute to Philly Hockey Night, the Phantoms wore replicas jerseys of the old Philadelphia Firebirds (1974-77 NAHL,1977-79 AHL) during their 5-4 overtime win over the Hartford Wolf Pack before auctioning them off in Bullies Sports Bar & Restaurant.
For the first time, right wing Kirby Law's jersey received the highest bid at $1,300. Defensemen Dennis Seidenberg and Brad Tiley's jerseys came in second and third with $1,250 and $1,200, respectively.
The proceeds from the auction and all fund-raising efforts this season are going to the National Adoption Center. The NAC is a private, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia that has found families for more than 19,000 children across the United States.
During the first jersey auction of the season, the Phantoms Wives raised $19,000 on Dec. 20 when the team wore special red & green Holiday jerseys during its 4-2 win over the Hershey Bears. A total of $1,470 was also raised at the third annual player bachelor auction on Nov. 15. Fans placed bids at the Phantoms Wives table for the chance to go on a date with one of six single Phantoms players, as well as Mix 95.7 afternoon disc jockey Rick Stacy.
