Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - An offensive affair went down in North Richland Hills, but it was the Brahmas on the losing end in a 9-6 game against the Allen Americans.

Colton Yellow Horn tested the goal lamp behind Wayne Savage early with the first shot of the night giving Allen the 1-0 lead. A minute later, following a Texas win in the faceoff circle, Nathan Saunders unleashed a shot from the point which Sean Muncy deflected past Chris Whitley for his first of the year in a Brahmas sweater. Looking to extend his scoring streak to 17 games, Brahmas winger Chad Woollard sent a saucer pass across the crease to Jason Krischuk's blade for their first lead in the game at the 5:59 mark in the first. With just 25 ticks remaining in the period, Nino Musitelli evened the scoreboard for his 29th of the season.

Texas regained the lead in the middle frame when Muncy found a rebound in front of the net for his second goal of the game. Texas' 11th shot of the game found the back of the Allen net with a goal from Alex Curran. Calin Wild found himself in the Texas sin bin giving the league's top ranked powerplay unit an opportunity to go within one. With 29 seconds left with the man advantage the Americans netted their fourth of the night. Two minutes later, Mick Lawrence put the Brahmas fans back on their feet when he followed up a shot by Matt Burto for the 5-4 lead. Nathan Saunders was credited with the secondary assist, his third helper of the game. Allen took revenge in the form of a couple unanswered goals from Bruce Graham and Musitelli for an American lead into the second intermission.

The Brahmas were back in the mix of things when wiley defenseman Ross Rouleau came flying in to Whitley's blocker side and went top shelf for the 6-6 tie thirteen minutes into the third. Savage let in a seventh goal, this time from Liam Huculak for an American one shot lead. A third powerplay goal and an empty netter from Allen put the nail in the game's coffin with a final score of 9-6.

The Brahmas hit the road to take on the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs tomorrow night for a 7:05 pm start before returning home Sunday afternoon to take on the same ‘Bugs for a 4 pm faceoff.
