
Dayton Gems to host "Hockey and Hoops Bracket Challenge"

DAYTON, OH - The Dayton Gems will be hosting a free competition to see who can fill out the best bracket for the 2011 NCAA Tournament.
Participants have a chance to win a team signed jersey, a team autographed hockey stick, free tickets for the 2011-2012 season and much more. In all, the Gems will be handing out $1,000 in prizes for the contest.
Fans can register now and have until noon on March 17 to fill out their brackets. Fans will receive points for each game they choose correctly. The amount of points a fan receives for each correct answer increases as the tournament progresses.
To register, visit daytongems.com and click on the "Hockey and Hoops Bracket Challenge" link. Fans will then fill in the required information before filling out a bracket.
The winner will be named at the end of the tournament.
This is the first time the Gems have had fans fill out NCAA Tournament brackets as part of a contest.
Fans will be competing against one another and will receive prizes if they are among the top point leaders at the end of the tournament. In all six people will win prizes, including the person with the best bracket receiving the grand prize of a team signed jersey and 20 flex tickets for next season.
Prizes
Grand Prize: Team signed jersey and 20 flex tickets for the 2011-2012 season
2nd Place: Game used stick signed by team and 10 flex tickets for 2011-2012 season
3rd Place: 20 flex tickets for the 2011-2012 season
*Three additional winners will be randomly selected to win a prize from one of the Dayton Gems' sponsors
Point system
First Round: 1 point for each correct pick
Second Round: 2 points for each correct pick
Third Round: 3 points for each correct pick
Fourth Round: 4 points for each correct pick
Fifth Round: 5 points for each correct pick
Sixth Round: 6 points for the correct Champion
