Suns Shutout BlueClaws

Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

LAKEWOOD, NJ - After a night where the Lakewood BlueClaws scored in just one inning, they don't score at all as the Hagerstown Suns shut out the BlueClaws 2-0 on Thursday.

The Suns (17-33) took the lead early on in the games third inning as they got a two-out double off of BlueClaws (25-25) starter Justin De Fratus. De Fratus (5-6) would keep things that way through his outing as he scattered eight hits in six innings while striking out eight. He has now gone at least six innings in his last six starts.

The Suns added to their lead in the eighth as they had five base hits, scoring just one run because of poor base running off of reliever Rob Roth, who also worked a clean seventh.

The BlueClaws had just two hits and three total base runners off of Suns starter Marcos Frias (8-4), who went six full and did not allow a run. Robinson Fabian took over in the seventh and went the final three innings scoreless for his first save of the year.

The BlueClaws had their chances and put two runners in scoring position in the ninth but were shut out for the second time this season. They were 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position in the ballgame.

The BlueClaws and Suns will play the third game and rubber match of the series on Friday night at 7:05. The BlueClaws will send tall righty Trevor May (2-1) to the mound and he will be opposed by AJ Morris (0-2).
