Colorado Eagles News Release
Windsor, CO â The Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League (CHL) and Subway have partnered to cross promote throughout the Eagles inaugural season. The promotion entitles every fan in attendance at an Eagles home game to a free six inch sub when the team scores six or more goals (fans must present their ticket at any Northern Colorado Subway location to redeem their sandwich). The offer is valid at all Northern Colorado Subway locations, but fans can only get their subs the day following the game when the six goals were scored by the Eagles.
The Colorado Eagles have scored six goals in two out of four home games (the Eagles scored six goals November 5 against the Wichita Thunder, and eight goals November 7 against the New Mexico Scorpions). Every Colorado Eagles home game has been sold out with 5,211 in attendance. In the days following both games in which the Eagles scored six or more goals, Subway gave away a combined 7,000 sub sandwiches.
"The Subway promotion is great because I was able to take my kids to the game, which was fun for them to begin with," stated Nicki Hein, Season Ticket Holder. "But, the fun continued for them the next day when they were able to get a free sandwich and âcelebrate' the Eagles win all over again!"
Northern Colorado Subway locations have been inundated with free sandwich requests, but the locations are excited for the success of the Colorado Eagles as well as the success of the cross promotion.
"The big surprise for Subway franchises was that the Eagles successfully accomplished the 6 goal feat twice in three days, leaving only a one day break between giveaways," stated Steve Lauer, President of L&L Subway. "We are excited for the Eagles and their success this season, and we encourage fans to keep their ticket stubs and get free subs!"
Ralph Backstrom, General Manager and President of the Colorado Eagles is impressed with the success of the partnership as well.
"My name isn't Jared, but the sub sandwiches sure are good and the fans are lucky to have such a great promotion."
