Trenton Devils News Release

The Trenton Titans came into tonight's game hoping to close the gap in the standings between themselves and the Reading Royals. While the Titans were able to skate away with a point, the gap widened to three as Brad Church scored in the overtime shootout to clinch the 3-2 win for the Royals.

The vaunted special teams of the Royals struck in first period while on the penalty kill. As Joe Rybar stepped out of the box to give the Titans a man advantage, Leon Hayward deflected a Jason Maleyko wrister past Andrew Allen to make the score 1-0. The Royals were able to extend their lead to two goals on Kent Davyduke's third goal of the season at 8:12 of the second period. The Titans, however, would mount a comeback.

Matt Herneisen tipped home a Scott Bertoli shot for a power play goal later in the second that would cut the Royals lead in half. In the final period, Bill Cass put a backhand shot past Cody Rudkowsky for his first goal of the season and to tie the score 2-2. After a back and forth overtime period, the teams would go to a shoot out. David Masse and Brad Church notched goals during the shoot out and ECHL ITECH Hockey Saver of the Week Rudkowsky saved 5 of 6 to give the Royals the victory.

The Titans continue their homestand against the Toledo Storm on Wednesday, November 12 at 7:00pm. For ticket information, call a Titans Sales Representative at 609.599.9500.
