Reading's Rudkowsky Named ITECH Hockey ECHL Saver of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Reading's Cody Rudkowsky is the ITECH Hockey ECHL Saver of the Week for November 3-9.

The 6-1 and 215-pound Rudkowsky was 2-0-0 with a shutout, an 0.48 goals against average and a .986 save percentage as the Royals won back-to-back games at Peoria to move up to fourth place in the Northern Division.

The 25-year-old Rudkowsky made 28 saves, including two in overtime, and assisted on Reading's first goal as the Royals won 2-1 in overtime on Friday. Rudkowsky, who played for Peoria in 1999-2000 and 2001-02, came back the following night and stopped 44 shots in a 5-0 win for his sixth career ECHL shutout and his 10th professional shutout.

He raised his save percentage from .938 to a league-leading .964 and lowered his goals against average from 2.03 to 1.23, the second lowest in the ECHL.

Rudkowsky made his National Hockey League debut with St. Louis on October 24, 2002 when he entered the game in the second period and made 10 saves in the Blues' 2-1 win at Edmonton. He had opened the 2002-03 season with Trenton, making 15 saves in the Titans' 4-3 season-opening win over Richmond, before being called up to Worcester and eventually St. Louis. He was 17-9-5 with a 2.73 goals against average and a .911 save percentage in 31 regular season games and helped Trenton advance to the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
