Stingrays Hold on for 3-2 Win over the Greenville Grrrowl

GREENVILLE, SC – After spotting the Greenville Grrrowl a 1-0 lead, the South Carolina Stingrays rallied with three straight second period goals and held on for a 3-2 win in front of 5,228 at the BI-LO Center Saturday night.

TYLER DEIS opened the scoring when he sent a screen shot past Kirk Daubenspeck at 3:56 of the first period. The Stingrays received second period goals from Andy Powers at 4:10, Curtis Huppe at 9:30, and a powerplay goal from Marty Clapton at 19:06 that proved to be the game-winner. MIKE HENDERSON pulled Greenville within one, 3-2, at 4:46 of the third period, but the Stingrays held on for the victory. MICHAEL GARNETT suffered the loss in goal for Greenville, and the Grrrowl were outshot 40-35.

Henderson's goal was a powerplay goal, but the Grrrowl are just 6 for 73 with the man-advantage (8.2%) over the past 16 games.

The Grrrowl remain home to host the Greensboro Generals at 7:35 PM tomorrow (Saturday) night (no local radio coverage). Tickets are on sale at the BI-LO Center Box Office and all TicketMaster outlets. For more information call (864) 467-GRRR or log onto www.grrrowl.com.
