Blades Fall to Bandits 3-2

ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades (24-14-10) were defeated by the Jackson Bandits (25-19-5) 3-2 in front of 5,917 at TECO Arena on Friday night. Bandits forward John McNabb registered the game winning goal in the third period for Jackson.

The Everblades got on the board first after Marty Johnston took a pass from linemate Kevin Brown and fired the puck into the net on the power play at the 3:05 mark to make it 1-0. The Blades then made it 2-0 after Don Smith slipped the puck past Jackson netminder Tyrone Garner at the 19:42 mark of the first period.

The Bandits came right back early in the second period and made it 2-1 on a goal off the stick of forward Sean O'Conner at the :47 second mark.

The Bandits then tied the game at 2-2 in the third period after forward Jeff Bes banked the puck of Everblades netminder Rob Zepp and into the net at the 4:40 mark. Jackson then took a 3-2 lead on a breakaway goal by forward John Mcnabb at the 14:13 mark of the third period to seal the win for Jackson.

Florida goaltender Rob Zepp (18-10-7) stopped 30 of 33 shots he faced while Jackson netminder Tyrone Garner (11-10-3) stopped 28 of 30 shots. The Everblades were 1 for 3 on the power play while the Bandits were 0 for 3.

The Everblades take on the Jackson Bandits on Saturday night at TECO Arena. The game will be televised on UPN-8. The puck drops at 7:38 PM due to the television broadcast.
