Louisiana IceGators News Release

Lafayette, LA – The Minnesota Wild have reassigned goaltender Derek Gustafson from the AHL's Houston Aeros to the Louisiana IceGators, the teams announced today. Gustafson, who will wear No. 29, is expected to be in uniform tonight when the IceGators skate in Baton Rouge.

The 23-year-old native of Gresham, Ore., went an impressive 16-7-2 with a 2.58 goals against average and a .896 save percentage in 26 games with Houston, where he participated in the AHL All-Star Game last weekend. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Gustafson has played in five career NHL games, all with the Wild, going 1-3-0 with a 2.26 goals against average and a .912 save percentage.

Gustafson, who went 4-3-0 with a 2.23 goals against average and a .930 save percentage in his only ECHL stint, a seven-game span with Jackson in 2000-01, has seen action in 100 career games, going 49-33-9 with a 2.63 goals against average and a .905 save percentage.

Gustafson is a product of St. Lawrence University, where he played just one season and led the Saints to an ECAC Championship. That season, he was also the ECAC's Rookie of the Year and the NCAA East Regional Tournament Most Valuable Player.
