Arkansas RiverBlades News Release

The Arkansas RiverBlades fell behind early, and then fell just short in the end, losing 4-2 to the Peoria Rivermen Friday night at Alltel Arena.

Ernie Hartlieb and Garry Toor tallied goals for the Blades, but Peoria got three assists from Arvid Rekis and a goal and an assist from Jason Lawmaster to claim the victory.

Jason Lawmaster opened up the scoring just 31 seconds in for Peoria, notching his 8th of the year from Arvid Rekis and Brendan Brooks.

Garry Toor then tied it for the RiverBlades at 5:49, set up by Terry Marchant and Dean Stork. Marchant got the puck to Stork, who threw it on goal. Toor came in and put home the rebound for the goal.

However, Peoria took the lead again at 12:27, as Bret DeCecco knocked in his 8th of the campaign, assisted by Arvid Rekis and Jason Lawmaster.

Randy Copley netted the only goal of the second period, notching his 13th of the season at 5:41 from Arvid Rekis.

Arkansas cut into the lead 4:39 into the third, as Ernie Hartlieb got his 21st goal of the year, set up by Jason Bermingham and Buddy Smith.

However, the Blades would get no closer, and Brendan Brooks added an empty net goal to set the final.

Arkansas outshot Peoria 33-32 for the game, and each team was 1-for-5 on the power-play.
