
Stingrays Fall 4-1 to Road Warriors

Greenville, SC -The South Carolina Stingrays (1-2-0-0) fell to the Greenville Road Warriors (2-1-1-0) 4-1 in front of 3,841 at the Bi-Lo Center Friday Night. Stingrays defenseman Patrick Cullity scored his first professional goal in the loss.
Cullity kicked off the scoring on the power play by ripping a shot over the glove of Road Warriors goaltender Nic Riopel at 19:59. Defenseman Grant Farrell recorded the lone assist.
The Road Warriors tied the contest at the 4:00 minute mark of the second period when forward Anton Kharin deflected a shot past Stingrays goaltender Jared DeMichiel. Forward Matt Schepke and defenseman Sam Klassen earned the assists. Defenseman Cullen Eddy gave the Road Warriors the lead at 11:48 from forwards Brendan Connolly and Marc-Olivier Vallerand. Less that a minute later, Road Warriors defenseman Julien Brouliette made it 3-1 on the power play from defenseman Wes Cunningham at 12:37.
After killing off a 5-on-3 Stingrays power play, forward Andrew Carroll iced the contest for the Road Warriors at 16:48 of the third period from forwards Justin Bowers and Mark Voakes.
Riopel earned his second win of the season knocking aside 23 of 24 Stingrays shots. DeMichiel suffered the loss kicking away 36 of 40 Road Warriors chances. Greenville finished the night 1-for-9 on the power play while the Stingrays went 1-for-6.
The Stingrays conclude their three game mini-series against the Road Warriors tomorrow night, Saturday, October 30 at 7:05 p.m. at the Bi-Lo Center.
