Utah Grizzlies News Release

Boise, Idaho - The Utah Grizzlies (4-1-1-0) defeated the Idaho Steelheads (1-2-2-1) 2-1 Friday night in Boise.

Utah broke a third period scoreless tie with two goals in 3:15 in the first 4:53 of the frame and Andrew Engelage improved to 2-0 by stopping 38 of 39 shots in the contest.

"I thought it was a great team effort," said Grizzlies Head Coach Kevin Colley. "We got a lot of momentum from the Deeth, Donovan, Carroll line late in the second period that got everyone going. It was a nice simple road game."

The Grizzlies took a 1-0 lead at the end of a shift for Hugo Carpentier, Paul Crowder and Tim Crowder. Instead of dumping the puck in and skating off as they crossed center ice, the trio kept the play going as Carpentier found Paul Crowder in the slot for the score at 1:38 of the period.

Utah made it 2-0 at 4:53 of the final frame as Tyler Ruegsegger hacked home his second goal of the year in his second pro game. Utah was then awarded two-straight power-plays to keep the play in the Idaho end.

The Steelheads made it 2-1 with 1:11 remaining, but Engelage made a sliding save on what looked to be a sure tying score in the final 30 seconds.

Utah and Idaho complete their three-game series Saturday in Boise. Face-off is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.

Utah returns home Friday, November 19 and Saturday, November 20 to host the Alaska Aces at Maverik Center. Friday is Maverik "Pack the House" night. All tickets are $5 for fans presenting a receipt from Maverik at the arena box office. Fans who present military identification Saturday will receive a $5 game ticket as well.
