Wheeling, WV - The Reading Royals of the ECHL (3rd Atlantic Division, 2-4-0-0=4), affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, defeated by the Wheeling Nailers (1st Atlantic Division, 5-2-0-0=10), 3-0, at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia. The win snapped a four game losing streak for the Royals-and a five game win streak for the Nailers. Goaltender Matt Dalton (win, 1-1-0-0; 25/25) stopped all twenty-five shots he faced to register his second pro shutout. Wheeling's Mattias Modig (loss, 1-2-0-0; 28/30; 1 eng) sustained the loss, marking the second time this season that he is been in goal when the Nailers were shutout. Reading, who had the top power play scoring ratio in the league going into tonight's game, went got blanked in eight chances with the man advantage. For the first time this season, the Royals penalty killers kept the opposition's power play before the game (0-6).

After a scoreless first period, for the first time in four games the Royals scored the game's first goal 3:24 into the second period. Todd Perry took possession behind the Royals' goal and was able to slip fore-check pressure with an elusive skating move, s
