Atlanta Gladiators News Release

Coming into Friday night's game at the Sun National Bank Center, the Gladiators were 0-for-8 in shootout tries. Rookies Michael Davies and Matt Krug quickly changed that, helping seal a 3-2 shootout win for Gwinnett.

The Gladiators (4-0-2) took a 2-0 lead into the third, but Tony Zancanaro (7:21) and J.S. Berube (14:39) brought the Devils (2-4-0) even.

Dave Caruso stood on his head for much of the game, stopping 67 of 69 shots for the Devils. It took several point blank short-handed stops from the former Gladiator netminder in overtime to force the shootout.

Chris Carrozzi was also sharp for Gwinnett, giving up just the two goals on 43 shots.

Davies opened the shootout by beating Caruso top shelf, and Krug did the same in the last round to pick up the second point.

Trenton went 0-for-8 on the powerplay for the second straight game, while the Gladiators went 0-for-5.

Tim Filangieri put the Gladiatiors on the board just 14 seconds into the game, capitalizing on a rebound chance in front for his first goal and second point of the season.

Chris Poli struck at the 6:55 mark in the second to push the lead to 2-0. The former Devil tipped a puck at the top of the crease past Dave Caruso for his first goal of the season and his first as a Gladiator.

Poli spent parts of the last three years in Trenton, racking up 39 points in 36 games as a Devil last season.
