
Stingrays Bounce Road Warriors 4-1

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays (22-16-1-1) pushed their season-long winning streak to seven games with a 4-1 triumph over the Greenville Road Warriors (21-16-1-1) in front of 3,452 at the North Charleston Coliseum Friday night.
Forward Maxime Lacroix gave the Stingrays the first lead of the evening at 9:11 of the opening period lifting a wrist shot over the glove of Road Warriors goaltender Nic Riopel (L, 21 saves on 25 shots) from the top of the left-wing circle. Forward Pierre-Luc O'Brien and defenseman Johann Kroll recorded assists. The Road Warriors answered with a tally from forward Justin Bowers at 12:13 from forward Jeff Prough and defenseman Cullen Eddy. Just over two minutes later, forward David de Kastrozza made it a 2-1 Stingrays advantage with a shorthanded tally with help from forward Trent Campbell and blueliner Brett Flemming at 14:15.
O'Brien made it a two-goal lead on the power play 26 seconds into the third period with help from Kroll and Lacroix. Campbell completed the game scoring at 17:10 from O'Brien. Stingrays netminder Daren Machesney picked up his seventh win of the season stopping 23 of 24 Road Warriors shots. The Stingrays ended the night 1-for-3 on the power play while the Road Warriors went 0-for-3.
The Stingrays continue a three-game in three-day weekend tomorrow, Saturday, January 21 against the Florida Everblades at 7:05 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum. Saturday is Nerd-Con with an appearance from the 501st Legion! A stormtrooper, sandtrooper and biker scout from the movie Start Wars will be in attendance for photos! Fans are encouraged to dress up in their favorite movie/gaming/comic book character costumes!
