Stingrays Sign Defenseman Shaun Arvai

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced today that the team has signed defenseman Shaun Arvai. In keeping with club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Arvai, 29, skated in 18 games with the Huntsville Havoc of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) this season scoring two goals and six assists for eight points. Last season, the West Lorne, Ontario, native appeared in 35 games with Huntsville grabbing 24 points (5g, 19a). Arvai, a fifth-year pro, saw action in the Central Hockey League with the Amarillo Gorillas, Missouri Mavericks, and Bloomington PrarieThunder from 2007-11 totaling 66 points (17g, 49a) in 112 contests. Prior to turning pro, the 5-foot-10, 170-pound defenseman attended the University of Alabama-Huntsville for four years earning seven goals and 47 assists for 54 points in 124 games.

The Stingrays return to action tonight, Friday, January 20 against the Greenville Road Warriors at 7:05 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum for Dog Days of Winter featuring a Super Weiner Dog Race!
