Elmira Jackals News Release

The Elmira Jackals announced on Friday that forward Josh Brittain and defenseman Nick Schaus have been assigned to the club from its AHL affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch. Additionally, the Jackals have re-signed forward Alec Kirschner to a standard player contract and have placed defenseman Jarrett Rush on waivers.

Brittain and Schaus rejoin the Jackals after being recalled to the Crunch earlier in the week. Both skaters made their 2011-2012 ECHL debuts last week, with Brittain, a second-year pro from Milton, Ontario collecting a goal and Schaus, a second-year pro from Orchard Park, N.Y. posting an assist in Elmira's three games.

Kirschner, a fourth-year pro, has played in nine games with the Jackals in 2011-2012 and is +1 with no points. The Dix Hills, N.Y. native leads the FHL's Danbury Whalers this season with 22 goals and 41 points. He most recently skated with the Jackals on Nov. 19.

Rush, a second-year pro, has one assist in nine games with Elmira this season. The Pennington, N.J. product has accumulated 10 assists in 22 games with the FHL's Brooklyn Aviators in 2011-2012.

The Jackals host the Trenton Titans tonight at First Arena prior to embarking on a four-game road trip. To reserve your seats call (607) 734-PUCK (7825), visit the First Arena Box Office, or log onto JackalsHockey.com.
