JOHNSTOWN, PA- Denver Manderson led the team with a goal and an assist, while Patrick Killeen made 18 saves, in the Nailers' first shutout win of the season in Johnstown Friday night.

A whistle blew the play dead to start the first period, as Paul Crowder, back in the lineup after six games out, put a shot on goal that went off the shoulder of Toledo goaltender Dustin Carlson. The Nailers went on the penalty kill, as Ryan Schnell's big hit in the Walleye's end was called for interference. Toledo was unable to get a shot off on the man-advantage before the Nailers had their own opportunity on the power play with 1:14 left in the period. Despite a few good chances, the period ended scoreless, but Peter Lenes drew a slashing penalty on Adam Estoclet at the final buzzer.

The Walleye killed the penalties coming into the second period, but the Nailers capitalized on a hooking minor to Nick Oslund. Brian Day picked up his first goal of the season, on a rebound, to put the Nailers up 1-0, from Manderson and Paul Crowder. Manderson put the Nailers another goal ahead just over a minute later, with his second point of the night with a shot from the left circle. Mickael Bedard and Ryan Schnell had the assists. Manderson took a penalty of his own, which the Nailers killed. Schnell's second penalty of the night, a late hit, earned him two minutes for boarding, two for unsportsmanlike conduct, a ten-minute misconduct, and a game misconduct.

The third period began with 1:29 left on the penalty kill for the Nailers. Adam Ross made a sprawling stick save on a rebound for Killeen, as Toledo was left with what looked like an open net. Crowder brought the puck around the net shortly after, and Carlson made the save on the Nailers' captain. Carlson headed to the bench to give Toledo a man-advantage, but Lenes came around the back of the goal, and wrapped the puck into the empty net for a three-goal lead. Olivier Dame-Malka was called for interference with under a minute to go, but the man-advantage didn't last long for Toledo. Oslund took a slashing call twenty seconds later to bring the play to four-on-four for the remainder of the game. Killeen gave the Nailers their first shutout of the year with 18 saves.
