The Elmira Jackals play their final home game of January when they welcome the Trenton Titans to First Arena at 7:35 p.m. prior to embarking on a four-game road trip. The Jackals defeated the Titans on Sunday in Elmira, 3-1, behind two goals from Jack Downing and 42 saves from Timo Pielmeier. Elmira leads the Gwinnett Gladiators by two points for first place in the Eastern Conference.
ELMIRA STRETCHES DIVISIONAL STREAK
In garnering the win on Sunday, the Jackals extended their point-earning streak in Atlantic Division games to 12 contests, dating back to Nov. 26. Elmira is 11-0-1-0 during this stretch, with the lone blemish occurring last Friday in an overtime loss on the road to Reading. The Jackals have not lost a game in regulation to a divisional opponent since Nov. 25, when they fell at home to the Titans. Elmira puts its divisional streak on the line again this weekend with games against Trenton and Wheeling.
GAZLEY GRABS SHARE OF SCORING LEAD
Dustin Gazley is tied with Mike Radja for the Jackals' scoring lead with 34 points after contributing a goal and adding an assist in Sunday's victory. The Novi, Mich. native leads all ECHL rookies with 24 assists and is one point shy of being tied for the scoring lead among first-year skaters. Gazley was the ECHL's Player of the Week for Jan. 2 - 8, posting three goals and three assists for six points.
