South Carolina Stingrays News Release
Tonight's Game:
South Carolina (2-0) @ Augusta (1-1)
The Stingrays take their 2-0 record on the road against the Augusta Lynx tonight at the Richmond County Civic Center at 7:05.
Augusta comes into the game with a record of 1-1 after a split at home against the Florida Everblades. Augusta lost to the Everblades 2-0 on opening night, but rallied to an 8-5 win the following game. Stan Drulia is in his first season behind the bench for the Lynx. He coached Orlando to a championship in the ACHL a year ago. Former Stingrays goaltender Jason Saal has gotten both starts for the Lynx.
Stingrays forward Ed Courtenay leads the team in points with three on two goals and one assist. Kirk Daubenspeck has started both games for the Rays and is 2-0 with a 2.00 GAA. The Stingrays have three power play goals in two games.
The Stingrays had 22 road wins a year ago. The Lynx now play out of the Central Division, which is in the Western Conference of the ECHL.
The Stingrays are without defenseman Aaron Schneekloth, who could be with Grand Rapids for a lengthy period of time. Defenseman Dave Leger was released by the Rays yesterday, leaving room for Shawn Skiehar or Colin Johnson to be activated from the injured list for tonight.
Tonight's game can be heard on CNN Radio 1450, Talk Radio 950 and www.stingrayshockey.com.
