The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that goaltender Michael Garnett has been assigned to the team by the Atlanta Thrashers.

Garnett began the season in the Atlanta Thrashers training camp before joining the Chicago Wolves. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native did not appear in any of the Chicago Wolves regular season games this season.

The 20-year-old netminder appeared in two regular-season games with Chicago last year, posting a 3.64 goals-against average and a 0-1-0-0 record. He recorded a 16-15-3 mark in 38 regular-season contests with the Greenville Grrrowl and posted a 3.41 goals-against average and a ..895 save percentage during his rookie year last season.

Selected by the Atlanta Thrashers in the third round of the 2001 NHL entry draft with the 80th overall pick, Garnett played in 67 games for the Saskatoon Blades during his final junior season in the Western Hockey League. He posted a 27-34-4 record and a .895 save percentage with two shutouts.

Garnett becomes the sixth player assigned to the Gladiators from the Atlanta Thrashers and the Chicago Wolves.
