
Stingrays Add Goaltender Brooks Ostergard

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced today that the team has signed goaltender Brooks Ostergard. In keeping with club policy, details of the agreement were not disclosed.
Ostergard, 26, recently dressed with the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL and attended training camp with the Toledo Walleye (ECHL) this season, but did not appear in a contest. Last season, the Cleveland, Ohio, native saw stints in the ECHL with the Trenton Titans, Kalamazoo Wings, Alaska Aces and Orlando Solar Bears skating in eight total games earning a 5-1-0 record, 2.50 goals-against average and .900 save percentage. Ostergard made his professional debut during the 2010-11 season with the Chicago Express (ECHL) on March 18 following a four-year collegiate career at Robert Morris University.
With the Colonials, the 6-foot-2, 190-pound goaltender played in 103 games compiling a 39-41-12 record, 2.73 GAA, .917 save percentage and was named to the Atlantic Hockey Association Third All-Conference Team in 2010-11 and College Hockey America All-Rookie Team in 2008-09. Ostergard attended the Washington Capitals (NHL) Rookie Development Camp in the summer of 2012.
The Stingrays, in partnership with the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), Department of Neurosciences and the South Carolina Advocates for Epilepsy (S.A.F.E.), celebrate Hockey Heroes for Epilepsy Night tonight, Saturday, November 16 at 7:05 p.m. against the Florida Everblades at the North Charleston Coliseum. The players will wear special purple-themed Epilepsy Awareness jerseys and auction them off live after the contest. The night will also feature a silent auction on the main concourse including autographed sports and Hollywood memorabilia, gift certificates and gift baskets, jewelry, vacation packages, original art and more as well as special performances during the intermissions.
