EDUCATION IN HOCKEY DAY

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: For the third time in two weeks, the Cyclones are back in Kalamazoo in hopes of claiming another road victory. Both match-ups this season between the two North Division rivals have been extremely close, decided by a single goal each time. Since 2006-07, the Clones have amassed a 28-20-3-3 record against their Mitten State foes.

SCOUTING THE WINGS: Nick Bootland's club sits nine points back of Cincinnati after a narrow 2-1 victory last night against the defending Kelly Cup Champion Reading Royals. Yanni Gourde and Eric Kattelus rank atop the Wings scoring leaderboard, collecting 11 points and 10 points respectively. Kattelus has been the hottest player against the Cyclones through two meetings - earning four goals and two assists in that span. Between the pipes, Joel Martin and Jordan Binnington have shared the workload early on. Martin is 1-2-0-1 with a 3.96 GAA while Binnington has earned a 2-2-0-0 record with a 1.97 goals-against average.

About Last Night vs. Greenville: Philippe Cornet and Barry Almeida scored crucial shootout goals as the Cyclones defeated the Road Warriors by a 2-1 final score on Star Wars Night in front of 5,529 at U.S. Bank Arena. It was the fourth time this season that the Cyclones earned a victory in the extra session. Michael Houser was stellar in his season debut, making 35 saves plus four in the shootout to earn his first ECHL win of 2013-14.

Four Score and Win: Offense has been the Cyclones' recipe for success this season. They are an impressive 6-0-0 when reaching the four-goal plateau.

Multi-Point Masters: The Cyclones have had a balanced attack all year long. All but three players have earned at least a point this season, while 11 of the team's skaters have notched multi-point games. Wade Megan is the leader in this category, with four such games.

Who Wants a Shot?: Cincy remains atop the ECHL on offense, averaging 4.22 goals per game. This is thanks in part to a strong average in shots on net. They're throwing 32.32 shots per night onto the opponent's net...the sixth best mark in the league.
