The Jackals are facing the Nailers tonight for the fourth of 15 meetings this season and third of seven at WesBanco Arena. Wheeling has gotten off to a 3-0-0 start in the season series behind three stellar performances by their rookie goalies. In two wins over the Jackals, Mike Condon has turned away 79 of 82 shots he has faced. In Wheeling on Thursday night Eric Hartzell picked up his first pro win with a 37-save shutout. So far this year the Jackals have out-shot the Nailers by an average of 39.67 to 25 and have out-chanced Wheeling 14 to 7 on the power play in the first three meetings this season, yet remain winless. The Jackals have not lost four consecutive games to the Nailers since joining the ECHL. They last lost three in a row to their rivals from Nov. 30 to Dec. 22, 2012.
This week's three-in-three series with Wheeling is Elmira's second of three three-in-threes during the month of November. It also continues the Jackals' busiest month of the season. They play 14 games over 30 days and by the time November ends the Jackals will have played 24 percent of their schedule (17 of 72 games). Like Elmira, Wheeling has been extremely busy in November. The Nailers' schedule features 15 games in 30 days this month and they will be a quarter of the way through their schedule by the time December rolls around.
Mark your calendars! The Jackals return home on November 22, 2013 to take on the Kalamazoo Wings at 7:05 p.m. M & T Bank is sponsoring a Thundersticks giveaway to the first 2,000 fans in attendance so get here early!
